Unique baby shower invitations are usually designed especially for the occasion, or they are achieved through customization of existing models or patterns. Uniqueness seems to be more and more important in decorations, invitations and other party details given the fact that people want to feel special and they fear an event that feels too common or ordinary. Some people prefer to create their unique baby shower invitations at home, using stationery, layouts and templates downloaded from Internet websites. If you decide on this course of action, be warned that there is a lot of work, although plenty of fun too!

Deciding on the theme and following it during the realization of the unique baby shower invitations is essential. Sometimes, it’s the theme and the way you follow it in design that gives the touch of uniqueness to baby shower invitations. Some organizers get inspiration from common baby-life motifs (bibs, bottles, pacifiers, toys, diapers etc.), others go into fairyland or explore the wonderful world of the Disney characters. The set theme should then be reflected in all the preparations for the baby shower from the decorations of the location for the event to the baby shower gifts offered to the guests upon departure.

Before starting planning the event and deciding on some fanciful unique baby shower decorations, you should stop for a minute and think of what you want to achieve, what the parents’ lifestyle is and where you’re going to throw the party. Sometimes the picture you’ve made up in your mind does not match the reality, and then you have to adjust, adapt and improvise. Creativity moves from the realm of imagination to that of real settings where you can do your best with lies around. That could be a challenge and a blessing at the same time, but with careful planning, the baby shower invitations and the rest of the event will be a success.

You can also order unique baby shower invitations at a decorations and invitations store specialized in customized designs. When you discuss the details, you ought to specify all of your requests so that the design satisfies your intentions. For very special invitations, designers send a preview of the cards to the event organizer for approval. Once they receive it, they can start work and come up with exquisite unique baby shower invitations. However, you should know that uniqueness and customization sometimes cost more. In case you’re planning on a budget, the price might be one of the first things to check.

The arrival of a baby is a big event. Moms-to-be just love to send baby shower invitations to gather all the girls for giggles and games. It’s common to choose chic, classically elegant or even designer baby shower stationery sets.
Baby shower invitations play a certain role in the event that you plan. They can easily inspire the entire event in a variety of ways, setting the theme of the party, for instance. Lots of people consider that the baby shower invitations are trifles in the bigger planning process, yet they represent a necessary step particularly if the mom-to-be has lots of female relatives and girlfriends.

In addition to the theme, the baby shower invitations set the mood for the event. The Internet gives women access to numerous offers of baby shower stationery. Choose from a huge variety of styles and designs to find the items that suit your budget and purpose. There are so many options, that it’s impossible not to find something to your liking regardless if they are the simplest baby shower invitations or fanciful ones that come with candies and chocolate and event details printed on the wrappings.

Doesn’t it just sound great? Your intention for the event should help you figure out the ideal option from the huge number of products. If you have a theme to follow and a general idea about what you want to achieve, then, it is no longer that difficult to figure out what works for you.
The baby shower invitations should include the name of the guest of honor, the date and time of the party, the address of the party location, a return card or a phone number for confirmation.

The reason for which people search for baby shower decorating ideas is that they need a way to create the perfect atmosphere for the event. What do you want your shower to feel like? This is the right place to start in order to see the bigger picture and actually choose decorations that you are happy with. Lots of people say they want things to be simple, fun, elegant and inexpensive at the same time. The thing is that there are hundreds of possible decorations that meet such specifications. How to choose then?

Personal preferences are the most important pattern people seem to follow when going through baby shower decorating ideas. You see twenty or fifty types of decorations, but you seem to remember one in particular. Then, that is the number one of all the baby shower decorating ideas, and the right choice for you. However, in many cases, people are overwhelmed by the great number of options, and the choice is made chaotically. It all depends on how important decorations feel in your bigger plan.

Baby clothes or diapers strung on a line across the room, pink or blue balloons, cutouts in shapes and themes (bottles, bibs, booties, strollers, cartoon characters etc), candles or baby-shaped confetti represent just some of the most popular suggestions on a long list of baby shower decorating ideas. You can pretty much order all the supplies you want online, which means that you won’t have to go far and wide shopping.

Baby shower decorating ideas are pretty numerous. There is lots to choose from, so, it’s not a problem about not having enough resources. For those who plan way ahead, toying various options over sounds like fun, but for people who are in a hurry to arrange for the party, the selection of baby shower decorations needs to be rapid.

Some people come up with their own baby shower decorating ideas that they want to put into practice. Home-made decorations sound like a lot of fun, and a good thing for your budget. To be honest, some baby shower decorating ideas could be pretty expensive to put into practice, and some people would discard them from the start because they don’t meet their budget’s line. Such situations vary depending on the case.

Switching baby shower decorating ideas just a little while before the event may throw you into a shopping and decorating frenzy. That too could prove stressful… and you’ll miss all the fun!

Baby and toddler toys are monitored by the government with safety regulations to ensure that manufacturers place specific labels on toys for recommended ages of use. You should follow these guidelines at least, when choosing safe toys for your children. Yet, you may want to play even a closer amount of attention to the toys they have. Even with the best intentions, there is no way to know how a child may manipulate a toy and potentially hurt themselves or others with it.

Age Appropriate

The age restrictions placed on baby toys and toddler toys are there for a reason. These toys may have small pieces to them that small children may put into their mouths. They may also have working pieces where fingers can get snapped or pinched in the process. Small hands can get stuck in some devices, too. Never give a toy with a choking hazard to toddlers or babies, as their first reaction is to put things in their mouths. Of course, it also makes sense that the younger child will not use many of the older toys for children properly. Not only could this be a risk for their safety, but it will likely frustrate them, too.

Look Closely At All Toys

All types of toys could have the potential of being an injury for the child. For example, most people love to give their children a cute, cuddly stuffed animal to play with. While these dolls, action figures and stuffed items may be a great toy, some do contain potential choking hazards. Can an eye or accessory pop off these items and go in the child’s mouth? If it can happen, assume it will happen.

When choosing toys, you should look at the design of the toy. How can this hurt your child? A sharp edge on the toy can easily cut or scratch them. You may find a wheel that pops off the car. You may find that if the child chews on the toys too long they could rip it and choke on the plastics. For toys that are electronic, be sure they are safe toys for the child’s age. Battery compartments can come off, fingers can get stuck in keys and the toy can be tossed around which may break it.

What’s It Made From?

In today’s eco friendly environment, not only should you look for safe toys that fit within specific requirements for choking and safe play, but also from what the toy is made. A variety of products is on the market that is eco friendly and just as fun to play with. For example, you may wish to look for toys made from recycled products or made from organic cotton instead of man-made products.

It is also important to know what is contained in the toy. For some children, especially those who suffer from allergies or who have sensitive skin, fabric dyes and chemicals contained in the toys can be harmful to them.

What To Look For

When buying toys, keep these things in mind. Safe toys that fit within these requirements are out there and easy to find, too.

Look for toys without strings, which can wrap around their neck and choke the child. Some toys may be comprised of strings wrapped around objects. Look for these and avoid buying them.

The size of the toy is important of course for swallowing risks. Be sure that anything that could come off the toy is large enough not to fit into the child’s mouth.

Avoid peeling surfaces or toys with any type of material in them that could potentially be dangerous if the toy is broken open.

Perhaps the most important protection for children is to give your child supervision when playing with toys. Even safe toys can be picked up and thrown or dropped on a foot. It is important to watch your child interact with the toy. When you notice them doing something that could potentially be dangerous, take the toy away from them. Over time, teaching your child how to play with toys correctly can limit problems, but nothing will protect them better than your watchful eye.

Whether you’re planning to become a mother or are surprised to find out that in fewer than nine months, you’re going to be a mother, the nine months is a time of preparation and planning. There is a lot to prepare for and if this is your first baby, you’re already aware that absolutely everything is about to change. There are many factors to consider when planning for motherhood. Everything from health to finances to your job are all factors that will be impacted.

Your Health

Now is the time to take stellar care of your health. If you’re not yet pregnant, you should consider taking vitamins and and supplements. Of course you know that you need to quit smoking, drinking and use of recreational drugs as well as minimizing your junk food intake. You should also minimize your exposure to any chemicals whether it’s at work or around the house.

Beyond getting yourself in good physical shape for a pregnancy, if you’re planning pregnancy ahead, fathers should also take good care of their health. A healthy man has healthier sperm and healthy parents can have a better chance of conceiving a healthy baby.

Various hobbies you have may or may not be suitable for a pregnant person so take the time to learn about the best way to manage your health. You might be pleasantly surprised at some of the things you’ll still be allowed to do and also surprised at some of the things that are not recommended.

Your Doctor’s Appointments

At about 12 weeks, you’ll start having monthly visits with your doctor where your doctor will check for a heartbeat, measure your belly and weigh you. This is a great time to talk about any questions you may have.

Closer to the end of the pregnancy, doctor visits will happen more often and throughout the pregnancy you’ll have other tests as well including: blood tests, blood / glucose tests, ultrasound pictures done and you may have other tests or screening done depending on results from tests and depending on your preference and status of whether your pregnancy is high risk or not.

Are You Considering Your Work Commitments

When planning to become a mother, you’ll want to decide whether or not you’ll work straight up to the end of your pregnancy. This is something you’ll consider based on several factors including the safety of your job. Many women who work in jobs that are difficult to do while pregnant will talk to their employers about modified duties during the third trimester. If you are concerned your job may put your pregnancy at risk, talk to your doctor.

After the baby is born, will you return to work? Many countries have regulations that offer paid maternity leave. Most women take advantage of this time as much as possible. After maternity leave is up, you’ll need to arrange child care if you’re not going to stay home with your baby.

Child Care

Some women opt for public daycare and others opt for in-home daycare options. There are women who have family who they can utilize for child care as well. Child care is a personal decision so you should carefully consider your options while you’re pregnant. It can be expensive to have someone care for a young baby but you may not have a choice depending on your job, your finances and personal preference. It may take you time to come to a conclusion as this is an important decision that depends on many varying factors.

Your Home

When you are planning for motherhood, your home may need to change. Perhaps you’ll need a bigger home. You’ll definitely need lots of stuff! You’ll need to consider baby proofing as well.

Baby proofing might not need to happen straight away as your child won’t be mobile for quite some time but it’s important to consider things such as appliances, heat sources, sharp corners, toxic chemicals and sharp objects.

Your Family

If you have another child or other children, the dynamics of the family will change when you give birth to another baby. The same can be true of pets and other family members. Planning for a new baby will involve changes throughout the home and you might have to consider changing how the house is laid out and how many pets you have in the house.

Water birthing was first introduced in the 1960s, and a water birth is believed to be safe as well as providing many benefits for the mother and her baby. The method of giving birth in the water supposedly makes the infant’s entrance to the world smoother and less traumatic, not to mention provides incredible pain relief to the mother as she is in labor.

What Are The Benefits and Risks?

There has been considerable research into the safety of water birth. While some critics argue that water birth brings an unnecessary risk to the baby, like infection and water inhalation, others believe that there are no risks to water birth, only benefits for both mother and baby. Because childbirth is hard on the baby, it is believed that water that is properly heated will help to ease the transition from the mother’s birth canal to the outside world because of the water’s resemblance to the environment the baby has lived inside of the womb for the preceding nine months.

A few of the benefits of water birth are pain management and a decreased chance of episiotomy or a torn perineum. Water is thought to help the perineum stretch, which decreases the risk of tears during deliver, and the support from the water offers perineal support by causing the crowning of the baby’s head to slow down. In water birth research, the episiotomy rate is nonexistent, and perineal damage is overall less severe than birth outside of the water. And because water birth is considered hydrotherapy, which is shown to be an effective form of pain management for various conditions, it is commonly reported that water birth helps women manage the pain of the labor and delivery process.

The hydrotherapy involved in water births is also considered a safer alternative than epidural anesthesia during labor, which increases the risk of a forceps or vacuum assisted delivery and chances of a Cesarean section surgery. Being fully immersed in water helps the mother’s body to redistribute blood and stimulate oxytocin and vasopressin release.

The majority of the concerns of water birth are dismissed by the positive research done in countless studies, with the only critical opinions stemming from poorly managed or unmonitored water births that neglect to cite any evidence. While infection is the most commonly discussed concern, there are no instances of bacteria gathered in the birth pool itself, especially with the extreme protocols for cleaning birthing tubs between labors. In fact, even babies that tested positive for common bacteria found in tap water didn’t need treatment for an infection.

Documented cases do show that laboring in water can slow the labor process by decreasing the intensity of the mother’s contractions. Therefore, most hospitals and facilities where water birth is allowed make a woman wait until she is dilated to 5 centimeters before she can get into the water birth tub.

History of Water Birth

Water birth first began being researched by Igor Charkovsky, a Russian researcher, in the 1960s in the Soviet Union. He believed water birth was completely safe and provided many benefits to the mother and her baby. Later that decade, French obstetrician Frederick Leboyer used warm water to immerse a newly born infant as a practice of easing the transition from the mother’s womb to the outside world, thus eliminating the effects of any traumatic birth procedures.

Michel Odent, another French obstetrician, took the practice even further by using a warm water birth pool as a way to relieve the mother’s pain and normalize the birth process. He was the first to study the positive and negative effects on babies who were actually delivered in the water after women who labored in warm water birth pools refused to get out of the water to deliver the newborn. By the late 1990s, the idea of water birth had spread to Western civilization and thousands of women had given birth at Odent’s birthing center at Pithiviers, a commune in France.

Water birth became a practice in the United States when couples gave birth at home and it was soon introduced to hospitals and freestanding birth centers by obstetricians and midwives. The first hospital to create a protocol for giving birth in water was Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, New Hampshire, in 1991, and more than 9,000 U.S. hospitals had adopted similar protocols by the year 2005.

Whether breastfeeding is right for you, is totally a personal choice and this is where you can find information on the benefits and drawbacks of breastfeeding, to ultimately make the right decision for you and your baby. There are a lot of factors that can impact the decision you make. Today, women have choices and you can decide to breastfeed, bottle feed or even to do a combination of the two.

Here are some considerations to take when deciding to breastfeed. First we’ll look at the pro sides of breast feeding and then the cons. Then, we’ll look at both the pros and the cons of bottle feeding as well as look at a combination plan that can help you have the best of convenience and the best for your baby.

Breastfeeding Benefits

Breastfeeding doesn’t cost you any money. It is the best option for babies in terms of health and wellness and provides them with a strong immune system. Breastfed babies are less likely to have health problems and less likely to die from SIDS. Colostrum, the first fluid that comes after a baby is born is essential for protecting babies against illnesses and contains all the nutrition a newborn needs.

Breastfeeding doesn’t require preparation and sterilization of bottle feeding equipment and you can do it anywhere. You can save a vast amount of money while knowing you’re giving your baby the very best.

Breastfeeding Drawbacks

Some women are concerned with breastfeeding pain. While the pain is only short term and most women find that it becomes painless after they and their baby master getting the right latch, it is something that takes a lot of time and effort. It does hurt or it feels uncomfortable in the beginning.

Mothers who breastfeed need to be with their babies all the time and unlike bottle fed babies, you can’t see how much the baby has consumed so you need to feed on demand instead of at a 3-4 hour rotation. Some women feel it impacts their love life as well because the breasts become the baby’s and their partner can feel left out. Those who choose to nurse their babies and are proponents of breastfeeding find that this is something that is short term and for the benefit of the baby. Some women choose to breastfeed for a short time and then switch to a bottle.

It can also seem complicated to deal with issues such as discreet breastfeeding, breastfeeding clothes, nursing bras, working and breastfeeding, breastfeeding pillows and dealing with breastfeeding in public. Most women find a way to address these issues so that they’re comfortable.

Bottle Feeding Benefits

Breastfed babies often want to be fed constantly whereas bottle fed babies tend to eat every 3-4 hours. While many say that breastfeeding is better for the baby because it lets the baby dictate their own appetite, mothers who want convenience of a scheduled routine can find it convenient to bottle feed.

Bottle feeding doesn’t hurt. Breastfeeding pain is often the reason women switch early on to bottle feeding and the fear of pain stops some women from even attempting to nurse their babies.

Bottle Feeding Drawbacks

Infant formula is expensive. It is nutritionally inferior to breast milk and takes time to prepare. You need to purchase not only the formula itself but the bottles and possibly sterilization supplies, bottle warmers and baby bottle liners. If bottle fed babies’ supplies aren’t well sterilized, babies can get oral thrush.

Baby formula also has a relatively short shelf life and there have been instances of tainted baby milk that have made infants ill. Some children have allergies to it so the mother needs to purchase more expensive and specialized versions whereas breast milk is customized to your baby so they will not have allergic reactions.

Combination of Breast and Bottle Feeding

Some women pump their breast milk and feed their babies from a bottle which offers them the convenience of bottle feeding while providing the babies with the milk that’s customized just for them. Others do a combination of breastfeeding and bottle feeding which can work for some women who are back at work and having their baby bottle fed during working hours and then nursed at night time. Sometimes the baby won’t go back to the breast once its been sucking from a bottle either. They have to work a little harder on the breast.

It’s important that you research and go with your instinct on what option is best for you. Many women opt to try breastfeeding for at least six weeks which can mean that their baby gets the healthiest start and that the woman can then choose to either continue to breastfeed, switch to bottle feeding or choose a combination of both feeding methods.

Making baby food is something more parents are interested in doing, especially with the controversies surrounding many of the commercial producers or baby food. Feeding baby is one of the most important ways to encourage healthy living and improve health when it is done with the proper nutrients. Before you begin feeding your baby any type of homemade food, be sure to consult with your baby’s doctor. Allergies and impurities can endanger some children.

Why Bother Making Baby Food?

There are many reasons to make your own baby food. First, you get to save money. Purchasing food you already eat and converting a small amount of it into baby food can cut down on your budget. Jars of baby food start at 50 cents or more and go up to several dollars a jar. Using several per meal can really add up considering the small amount of food your child is getting for your investment. Making your own baby food can cut out this expense altogether especially when you do not buy additional foods but rather use those foods you are already making.

Another reason to feed baby with homemade baby food is because you are in charge of the ingredients. Flip over any jar of baby food and you will find a list of ingredients. Unless the food is all natural and organically made (which it will say if it is) then you could be giving your baby foods that are full of pesticides and herbicides not to mention preservatives. Although many commercial producers of baby food are now offering a range of products that are organic, making your own food may help you feel more assured about the quality of the ingredients used.

Having The Right Equipment For Making Baby Food

To feed baby all natural foods from your kitchen, start with the right equipment. You will need to puree the food finely to insure that the child does not choke on it. You can use a blender or a food processer, but do strain it after producing it to insure that all of the clumps have been removed. Additionally, you will need to store the baby food in some type of sterilized container. A good option is an ice cube tray. This is an easy way to portion out the baby food, too. Store it covered tightly in the refrigerator or freezer if making more than you need for one meal.

Best Foods For Feeding Baby

Before you consider making baby food, take stock of what types of food you can use and how to choose the best products for baby. When you visit the grocery store, choose all organic produce to include in your baby’s diet. In most cases, making baby food will be a daily (or every other day) process, so only purchase what you can use during that period. All produce should be fresh and free from any damage. Include foods such as, bananas, apricots, avocados, prunes, apples, potato, squash etc.

Over time, you will be able to add other foods, but most doctors recommend just using fruits and vegetables during the first few months. You also do not want to use foods your child could potentially be allergic to.

Making Baby Food

Cleanliness is one of the biggest parts of producing baby food. You should insure everything, including your hands, has thorough sanitizing before getting starts. For fruits and vegetables, remove hard the hard peals and pits. Then, cook them enough to allow them to be easily pureed. It is best to boil or steam the products so that as much of the nutrients as possible remains within it. You can add breast milk or formula to help the puree process. Store the food in airtight containers.

Baby food should be nutrient rich to give the child as much of an opportunity to get nutrients into their system as possible. Never serve a baby foods that are hot, only lukewarm. Be sure to try only one new food at a time, too, allowing consumption of one food for a couple of days to insure the child is not allergic to it and is accepting of it.

As many parents will tell you, the job doesn’t end when your children move out of the house. Parenting your children as adults is also important but your role as a parent will change when your children grow older. If you want to maintain a positive relationship with your adult child, it will be important for you to learn about parenting your children as adults.

Family is important and your children remain your family even when they grow into adults themselves. How can you remain close as you grow older and your relationship changes? One important step is to remember that your children want respect as the adults they have grown into. Your attitude toward your child will need to change.

Respect without Dependence

When parenting your children as adults, it’s important to have a relationship of mutual respect without dependence. You likely spent a majority of your parenthood trying to teach your child independence. Now that they are an adult, you want them to give you respect and you also need to show them respect as a grown person.

While your child may still come to you with problems or for advice, they should not depend on your to take care of them anymore. If the adult child has too much dependence on the parents, they will never be able to make it on their own as adults. It’s part of your job as a parent to teach them to be responsible adults.

Living Arrangements

What type of living arrangements exist with your adult child? If your adult child lives in their own home, the relationship will be less strained and will take on more of a friendship than a parent/child relationship as long as good communication exists. If your adult child still lives in your home, different rules will apply.

Your child will feel that they make their own rules and should be free to come and go as they wish since they are grown but you may have your own house rules that you want them to obey. If there are disagreements over the rules, conflict can ensue.

While it’s important for you to respect their individuality and the fact that they are grown now, your child should still respect your rules while living in your home. For example, if you say you do not want them having guests of the opposite sex spending the night, your adult child needs to respect this or discontinue living in your home.

To prevent complications, be sure to set ground rules before they move in (or if they never moved out after teenage years). Sit down and have a mature adult conversation about the rules and what will be expected of them while they are living in your home.

Friends and other Relationships

It’s important that you have a mutual understanding with your adult child to respect one another’s choices in friends and relationships. Unless they ask for your opinion, you shouldn’t tell your adult child who to be friends with or who to not be involved with. You have to trust their opinion as an adult to make their own decisions about what is best for them.

On that same topic, your adult child should not try to tell you who you can be friends with or who you should be in a relationship with. If you choose to discuss your personal relationships with one another, there should be a level of mutual respect and there should be ground rules regarding what shouldn’t be discussed between child and parent.

Tips for Parents

Here are some things to keep in mind when it comes to parenting your children as adults:

• Respect your adult child’s privacy
• Respect their own moral and religious beliefs
• Be available but not overbearing
• Don’t give your opinions when they haven’t been requested
• Remain open communication so you both understand how the other feels
• Don’t try to “baby” them or allow them to be dependant on you
• Be supportive in financial situations but don’t help when you feel uncomfortable doing so- you are no longer obligated

These tips and ideas will help you have a good relationship with your own adult child.

A new baby is one of the most precious additions to the family. There are so many things that new parents need to remember regarding caring for a newborn. Safety is probably the foremost of these things as well as giving the new baby as much love as they possibly can. Many of the things that a parent needs for the baby are usually given as a new baby gift during baby showers, christenings and welcome home parties.

New Baby Basics

There are a great many things that should be remembered when caring for a newborn. Among these things is to practice patience with the baby. Babies have no other way to communicate except to cry, which is why for every little thing it wants, the baby usually cries. A new baby usually drinks milk every two to three hours every day. Since there is no set time and this time is an estimate, you can expect your baby to be variable when it comes to eating time.

Feeding the new baby with breast milk or formula is one of the many things that new parents should think about. Breast milk is basically made up of all the nutrients and protection that baby needs for the first few months of life. Breast milk gives colostrum, which boosts the baby’s immune system and helps to protect from sickness. On the other hand, if the mother does not have the capacity to produce enough breast milk, the parents might need to supplement with formula or use formula fully to feed the new baby.

Holding the new baby is one thing that needs to be learned. Since the baby is not able to support his or her body as of yet, it is advisable to support the neck and back with an arm when carrying the new baby. Avoid letting the baby’s head hang limply and make sure that as the baby is being carried the arms or legs are not pinched or trapped.

The clothes that a new baby is to wear should not be too warm or too cool. Avoid using buttons that might come off as well as safety pins that might poke your baby. Cotton is the best clothing to use for a new baby since this is one of the least allergenic materials. Snaps are preferable to buttons and ties. Mittens are not preferable since these can hide the state of the new baby’s fingers and hand. There have been some cases of a piece of string tangling in the baby’s hand and cutting off circulation.
