Is Baby Gender Prediction Possible?

You may be curious about baby gender prediction and how it works.  While “old wives tales” about baby gender prediction may still abound - calculating the woman’s birth date versus the Chinese lunar calendar or believing that the baby will be the same gender as the more active partner during sex - it’s best to consider some more accurate and more reliable methods with scientific backing.

Some people feel that the way a woman carries her child is a way of predicting whether the baby will be a male or a female.  Some think that a baby boy will sit higher in the belly, and a girl will be lower.  This is also not fool proof because often the way a woman’s belly develops during pregnancy gets influenced by her body shape instead of the gender of the child.

A woman that is shorter or that has a shorter torso may find that the baby sits lower in the belly simply because there is not much room for it to develop anywhere else.  Taller women may find that the baby sits higher simply because it has that much more room.  Of course there are many other factors that influence the size and shape of the belly during pregnancy and this too cannot be considered an accurate baby gender prediction method.

It is known that sperm that contains Y chromosomes, which means they will produce boys, usually moves faster and also dies quicker compared to sperm only containing X chromosomes, producing girls, which seems to make it the only real baby gender prediction method.  It is significant that sperm carrying a Y chromosome lose motility sooner than sperm carrying an X chromosome.

Many believe that for baby gender prediction you should lie still after intercourse for a boy as this will allow that sperm to reach an egg to fertilize quicker.  For a girl you should consider having intercourse a day after ovulation as the Y chromosome sperm may then die off before they reach an egg whereas the longer-lasting X chromosome sperm have a better chance of lasting long enough to reach that egg.

Remember though that there is no guaranteed method of baby gender prediction.  It is not possible even if you take all the techniques and tricks of the world to control what goes on in a woman’s uterus, so you should be prepared for a baby of either gender whatever you may try.

Would You Like A Baby Girl?

Do you have a house full of boys, and are you ready for a girl?  Or do you have girls already and found the experience so wonderful that you want another?  Whatever the reason, many parents wanting to conceive wonder how to have a baby girl and if there really is anything they can do control or at the very least influence the gender of their unborn child.

Of course even with all the medical research and technology that we have today it’s absolutely impossible to guarantee or control the gender of an unborn child; even scientists working in a lab with sperm and an egg in a dish only have about a 70% accuracy rate when it comes to controlling the gender of an embryo!  So parents wondering how to have a baby girl are going to be disappointed if they think that they can do anything to give themselves a 100% accuracy rate; this is something to consider and be prepared for when the pregnancy does occur.

Some tips for how to have a baby girl including creating an environment in the vagina and uterus that is actually unfriendly for sperm.  The reason girls are more likely to be conceived is because the chromosomes hosting the Y chromosomes which produce boys are weaker and less virulent than the X chromosomes which yield females.  If the environment is unfriendly the male sperm may die off quicker, giving the female sperm that much more of a chance to reach an egg and fertilize it.  When considering this point for how to have a baby girl you should check your vaginal pH and create an environment that is more acidic than alkaline.  Eating citrus fruit and other foods high in acid content can help.

The male sperm also seem to travel faster than the female sperm, so those who are trying to have a boy are advised to have deeper penetration during sexual activity to allow the sperm to be deposited closer to the unfertilized eggs.  If your goal is to have an infant girl you will have to approach this in the reverse. You should try the “missionary position” where the man is on top because the penetration generally is not that deep in this sexual position. There isn’t any proven way to pick the sex of the baby, but with these tips and pointers can help improve the odds in your favor for a baby girl.

What Can You Do To Determine The Sex of Your Baby?

Many expectant parents or those looking to conceive are wondering if it’s possible to determine the sex of your baby; for whatever reason they prefer one gender over another and want to conceive a boy or a girl. Their reasons for this are personal and should be respected of course, but what can parents do if they’re trying to determine the sex of a baby before conception?

For one thing, never think that you’re going to get a guarantee regarding the gender of a baby no matter what you do. Conception is a process that happens at a microscopic level and of course there are typically millions of sperm that are present during intercourse, so any one of those can reach an egg in order to fertilize it. The sperm itself is what will determine the sex of a baby; this has nothing to do with the mother, her age, the month of conception, the amount of potassium in the woman’s system, and so on. Sperm contain one chromosome factor each; a Y chromosome will create a boy whereas an X chromosome will create a girl.

When you realize that the gender of the baby is determined simply by which sperm reaches the egg first, you realize how difficult it is to determine the sex of a baby before conception. Those sperm are so tiny that you just can’t do anything to control which one reaches an egg first! They’re not like pet dogs where you can call one back and send one ahead and the mother certainly has no knowledge of which one is faster than the others.

So how do parents determine the sex of a baby? The only real differences that seem to be present in the sperm is that the Y chromosome sperm travel faster but die quicker than the X chromosome sperm. To conceive a girl you may want to create an environment that is hostile to the sperm so that the weaker boy sperm can die away, and to conceive a boy you may want to have deeper penetration during sex so that the faster sperm can reach the egg quicker. Even then, to really determine the sex of a baby you should wait until you’re actually pregnant and have an ultrasound from your doctor so that you know for sure, as many parents have been surprised by their baby’s gender!
