A baby shower is always a fun way to welcome a new life into the world. The soon-to-be parents gather with friends and family to celebrate the impending arrival of their little one. Traditionally, shower guests provide gifts of things that the family will need for the new baby.

If you want your gift to truly stand out from all of the t-shirts and rattles that the expectant parents will be receiving, you’ll need to put some extra thought into your gift. Finding unique baby shower gifts is a great way to show the expectant parents that you care enough about them to choose the perfect gift just for them.

Choosing unique baby shower gifts isn’t as complicated as it seems. Although it may be easier to pick up a pair of booties or a bath toy, unique baby shower gifts can be found in stores or online with no extra work. Knowing your recipients’ personalities will make it simple to find the perfect unique baby shower gifts.

Finding the Perfect Gift

The availability of online gift-buying guides has made it easier than ever to find just the right unique baby shower gifts. In fact, there are tons of websites that specialize in providing unique baby shower gifts. There are new slants on old favorites like memory books, and there are some new ideas for gifts like personalized piggy banks.

One of the most popular unique baby shower gifts in the last several years has been diaper cakes. A diaper cake consists of rolled up cloth or disposable diapers arranged to look like a cake. Smaller gifts like pacifiers and toys are attached to the cake to make it look festive and fun.

Other unique baby shower gifts are those that are given to the expectant mother instead of the baby. Spa gift certificates, massage tools, and coupons for babysitting can all be welcome treats for the mother of the new baby.

There are countless other unique baby shower gifts to choose from. If you have trouble deciding on just the right gift, simply take the parents’ personalities into consideration. If they are boisterous and fun-loving people, colorful toys are always fun gifts – and there are so many baby toys out there today that choosing a unique one should be simple.

If the recipients are more laid-back or prefer the simple things in life, framed art for baby’s room may be the perfect gift. Personalized clothing or bedtime story books are also good choices for simple but unique gifts.

Baby shower gifts are lots of fun to choose and to give. No matter what type of gift you choose to give, giving it from the heart will let the expectant parents know that you care.

Getting Baby Shower Ideas Starts Here

Someone you know is having a baby, and in your joy at their news, you volunteered to throw them a baby shower. It sounded like a good idea at the time, but now you need - some baby shower ideas. With so many things to plan, where does one even start?

Idea #1 – The Theme

Just like every baby is unique, they each deserve a special theme for their shower. Themes run anywhere from the traditional pink and blue color scheme to elaborate rain forest parties for the animal-lovers or environmentally conscious. If the parents-to-be are movie lovers a wonderful baby shower idea might be a party centered on baby movies such as “Look Who’s Talking”, “She’s Having a Baby” and “Baby Mama”.

A great baby shower idea for very nontraditional parents is a rocker party. This type of party could have things like a guitar shaped cake and a stork carrying a baby with preternaturally spiked hair. The only things limiting baby shower themes are budget and imagination; often an excess of one of those can help make up for a lack of the other.

Idea #2 – The Invitations

Invitations to showers tend toward the traditional. However, with the computer programs available today, it is easy to make beautiful, themed invitations at home. Additionally, if your budget allows, invitations can be ordered to fit any baby shower idea you have in mind.

Idea #3 – The Games

Games can be adapted to fit any theme. If your baby shower ideas involve a lot of games, take a look to see what you can do to individualize them. For instance, if the parents are musicians, play a guessing game as to what music the parents will play for different possible baby moods and situations (for example: tired, playful, on a long car ride). When movie lovers are involved, you can be sure their gifts will include children’s films – limit the baby bingo options accordingly. Imagination will make your games unique to your guest-of-honor and make their shower much more memorable.

Idea #4 – The Guests

While guests are used to receiving registry information, having more information about the theme of the shower could be beneficial as well. Some may want to buy gifts to go with the theme. If they are as enthusiastic about the theme as the parents, they may volunteer some baby shower ideas of their own, which could be very beneficial to you as host.

A themed baby shower may not be the answer for everyone. Some people are most comfortable with what is familiar to them. But if you want to spice up the shower by doing something fresh, a well-developed theme that carries through from the invitations to the decorations to the games could be the best baby shower idea you’ve ever had.
